Have a 2002 Met 2 with 1400 miles on it...
The restrictor plate was removed and i re-jetted with larger jet..
Anyway that was years ago...
Now my current dilemma...
Was stored poorly for over a year. You got it muck gas and all. Didn't even bother trying to start it before removing all the old gas and cleaning the carb.
Put it back together...now it doesn't start unless I spray starting fluid into the intake. Then it runs long enough to burn out the ether and dies. The carb is getting gas...put a new gapped spark plug in...Tore the carb out again and gave it another cleaning...soaked the jets in B12 for a couple of days...the carb is truly clean.
Put back in the scooter and same results...
What am I missing here?

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the sound?

so, i live in VA which does not require me to plate/register/insure my metro. we have it insured for theft purposes. anyways, i was wondering if i rode into West Virginia, could i be ticketed? as far as i know, WV requires plates for mopeds/motorcycle license. where i'm going i will probably never get "caught" cause i'm only in WV for a mile, but i'm still worried about the potential.

i'm just not quite sure what the outcome would be. anyone know from experience? thanks.

Hi Guys,
I have had (3) 02 Met 1's and two of them eventually got harder and harder to start. Once
warmed up they both ran and idled fine. Both bikes never sat for more than a week without
being run. I pulled the carb on one and soaked it and blew it out cleaned the jets, diaphragm looked good
and still came up with the same issue. If you were going to make a checklist of the most likely culprits
in order, what would they be? I have searched the site and have come up with a lot of great info
but I wanted to cut down on my guesswork. My gut tells me it's not trash in the carb since they both
ran well when warmed up. Thanks
