As of yesterday I have 24,410 miles on my Kymco People 150. It's had three rear tires, a CVT belt replacement, regular oil changes, and a few other repairs, but it runs almost like the day I bought it seven years ago.

Well time for an update:
I parked my primary Met (2006) last October at 33,xxx miles. It has 2 issues that I need to resolve.
1. One of the front springs has become stuck/jammed or something and doesn't compress & rebound as it should.
2. The engine has developed an oil leak on the right side (behind radiator), it started a couple thou ago and just got to a point I decided was not acceptable and should be fixed, not enuogh that it runs low between changes but it did mark its parking spot at work and the underside was usually covered with a light coating from the drip & the wind.

I've been riding my backup (2007), only 5 thou on it, hope to get my main bike back on the road and continue the quest to see how long it'll go.

My 2009 Honda Met. Just rolled over to 20K.
It still runs like day one, except for a few minor things. It is a few mpg slower and the brakes squeal for the first 5 minutes in the morning.

Here is what I have done/not done for maint. on it.

Changed:
oil ever 2000 miles.
3 head lamps
rear tire once at 11K miles (front still in good condition)
Viynl on seat cover at 10K miles because I parked out in the sun. (new covering holding up well)
spark plug once at 12K (no sign of needing to, just did because of age)
Brake shoes at 12k
1 battery at 16K

Not Changed:
Variator Rollers (changing soon)
Drive Belt (changing soon)
lube of cables
adjustment of valves
clearning of carb

Other main. needed:
Lubethe worm gear for the kickstart

I'm surprised you have not yet needed to work on the belt and rollers with 20k miles, 8 years or so. I would have thought the belt to be getting slack and quite dirty by now and the rollers showing flat spots. You may soon find the scooter losing top speed and slow off the line, and you won't be able to delay the service much longer.

I change the oil every 1000 miles on my scooter, and certainly once a year. Perhaps you use synthetic and get a longer oil change interval?

Your bike sounds like a great little machine, reliable and fun. 20,000 miles is impressive. =D> Enjoy it and ride safe.

In 10 more miles I will have 29,000 miles on my 2007 Vespa GTS 250.
I didn't put all those miles on it as I bought it used, but I am pleased with this scooter.

im at about 17,000 on my 2003 Met. I got hit by a car yesterday, thankfully I wasnt too hurt, just some scratches and soreness. (cars not looking when they pull out of a parking lot, i was going slow, but still) But the front end is all smashed up, hopefully I can replace the fender and front panel.. Rim looks bent too.

But that aside, at 17k it was running fine. I had replaced everything it seems at least once..

Impressive longevity for your well maintained old Met. So sorry about the knock down. Hope you feel better and sustain no long term injury. I know it's a bummer about the scooter damage. Make the driver pay! Get parts and get it fixed. Hope you are riding again very soon.
