Thanks Wendy. Hope your install goes smoothly. You will be delighted with how handy the basket is!
And of course, photos are a requirement! :)

Thanks Scooterguy!!

Wanted to thank scooterguy for the tip on the paint to match the Met. I painted the white front basket & it is much closer to the "eggshell" or "cream" color of the Met O:)

First photo is the basket BEFORE painting with the beige paint from Ace harware. Second is the AFTER shot. It really varies alot depending on the light.

Thank you.

If only we could find a more reasonable place to buy these, I would like to get two more for my Metros.

Disclaimer: 2 month old thread

I have to say, honda definitly dropped the ball on the coloring of the basket. The white definitly clashes. I don't know if I would have noticed it or not, without this thread. But now I definitly notice it. I installed my basket today. Pretty painless.

I chose to put the accorn nuts on the OUTSIDE of the leg guard. I think it looks better than having screwheads facing outwards. Although maybe my met looks like it has 4 chrome nipples now. :p Part of my reasoning was that if I do the chrome trim mod, they accorn nuts will blend in just fine.

I'm impressed how roomy this thing is! I can't wait to use it.

hey, susan.

it looks like it's been six months since you repainted the basket. has the paint held up okay? any cracking or chipping?

and next, you said the paint was from Ace Hardware and beige in color. spray paint? something akin to rustoleum? gloss or semi?

and lastly, a few days ago someone posted an idea for blinging their front basket. i can't remember who it was, but i shamelessly stole the idea. (the door edge guard was a little hard to put on because of the thickness of the wire)

ron--nice work wth the chrome piping.. me likes it! :x
The paint is from Ace Hardware --it is spray paint, their ACE Brand.. The label reads "ACE" Interiod Exterior Premium Enamel--the beige plastic cap has a white sticker on it that says "matches evaporator cooler beige"

it is paint for wood or metal--doesn't indicate glosss or semi-gloss

My basket hasn't chipped or peeled. Although I must say I haven't been riding my Met as much since I got my Vino 125 and have been using the 125 for my grocery shopping---the Givi trunk on the Vino holds a ton of stuff----poor Met has been neglected......Gotta do something about that today!

one final question, susan. did you rough up the surface before spraying it?

(i'm probably going to do the paint job. and since the basket will be removed for painting, a little more chrome bling will probably be applied to the inner areas although the basket does fit rather snuggly up against the panel.)

Go, Ron!

I assume you had to remove the chrome from your basket to paint, right?

Also, did you decide to rough up your basket before painting?
