It is absolutely imperative to wear protective gear at all times. I was taught to ride by a very experienced long time rider and he insisted that a full face helmet was essential, the other styles are useless at protecting your face/head effectively. Gloves and other clothing can be changed to suit weather conditions i.e. longer lined gloves for winter, short thinner ones for summer but do ensure that all your extremities are covered, no short pants, short sleeved shirts or sandals. If you do come off at no matter what speed, you are just so completely vulnerable to getting open wounds if your limbs are not covered.

Put on the protection! You can make it fun with the wide selection of colors, bumps and lubes. Don't GET burned over a 10 minute ride.
