Ruckus Swingarm rookie moves

Postby zippin35 on Thu Sep 07, 2017 8:53 am

Hi all, so I have my 07 met and decided to put a ruckus swingarm on her. I did my fair bit of research beforehand and it appeared to be a simple swap. Turns out, its not. Most of the mets I had seen do this had already removed the stock airbox setup and so they never mentioned it. Well, idiot me went ahead with the swap and only realized this afterwards. So, I now have a met in pieces in the garage and an airbox delete kit on the way from theruckshop. Right now, Im debating putting the stock arm back on and then going through and tuning it with the new air filter setup, then adding the swingarm, then new variator and finally the met gears if need be. Winters right around the corner here so I am a bit hesitant that Ill get all that done before its too cold to ride. What do you guys think, is it fine to drop the new arm, air filter and variator in or is there a serious benefit to doing it step by step and tuning as I go. Thanks all.

TBD I think for now haha. So ehres what I did in order:

Swapped on a ruck swingarm, brake cable
Dropped in a pollini Variator (weights currently really untested)
Airbox Delete kit
re-jetted carb with jets that came with air kit (runs but not tested for tuning)
Ruckus rear tire and shock with an mnnt met to ruck shock adapter
bushwackwed rig for a turtlehead tail light
Flasher relay

I think thats it but i have also since bought a michelin 120-90-10 tire and an atr lowdown shock to mount. Its currently 5 degrees farenheit here so she's pretty locked up for the winter. Didnt do anything special, I just start her once a week and let her run while I snowblow outside. Once I get the wheel and shock on and it warms up, Ill get to tuning her

ATR lowdown can be done but is bit tricky. A modded shock as a semi hard tail works well.

Ya Ive heard its either no problem at all or a pain in the ass. Ill get the tire put on the wheel and size everything up. The 130 stock ruck wheel was too wide so Im hoping the 120 will be narrow enough

Did you relocate the shock mount or is it running stock?

I can try and do that for ya. The wheel I just bought isnt mounted yet and its winter here so can't say Im terribly motivated to work on the scoot but once I get that mounted on the stock rim Ill slap it all together and post a pic

Well it took long enough but here she is (if anyone's till here and reading). Full list of stuff on her ruckus swingarm, aftermarket taillight (forget the brand), bopper 120 tire, stock met rim, ATR lowdown shock, mnnthbx met-2-ruck adapter, polini variator, fmf exhaust going on today, and that may be it. Still need a kickstand and to tune the cvt/jets, swap seat for brown and paint.

not sure why the pic only seems to show the rear wheel
