Reporting spam

Postby angie on Mon Mar 03, 2008 6:42 am

Is there a quick way to report spam? I know on some forums, where the quote button is, is also a place to click, "report this post" or something similar.

We have several moderators who view the board every day. We usually catch spam quickly and the Mods are empowered to dump it.

I just killed the post of some doofus selling iPhones and other great buys that no one should be reading about here. We are rarely bothered by spam that sticks around for more than a couple of hours before it is caught and killed.

OK if you want to send a heads up to this topic area if you see something that didn't get zapped fast enough, but there is no particular "report spam" button.

Thanks for the reply. That was the spam I wanted to report. I was just hoping for a quick way to pm a mod, from the offending post.

The lack of a "Report Post" button is one of the limits of phpBB vs. vBulletin (I was a mod of a phpBB forum for a while and currently a mod of a vB).

Looks like spam is still rampant. There's a lot of posts by yue178qi311 about runescape stuff. >:p

Yea- it was actually contained when this site was still on phpBB 2.0 - now I have issues with link spammers.

Just have to wait for more phpBB 3.0 mods...

I've been killing that runescape stuff left and right. I haven't had access for a couple days, so the rest of the mods have had a bit more to scoop away.

Yea- the spam situation has been really bad lately- I wish I could find that mod I had on phpBB 2 for phpBB 3 that makes people post a couple times before posting links. :P
