just found an alternative to meetup.com called groupomatic

I am interested in starting a scooter group in my Denver suburb: Aurora, Colorado. I ran into a group in Boulder Colorado with a service called meetup.com. But they have apparently gone commercial now charging fees. So I searched for a free alternative. I found one at groupomatic.com The link is:

That link is not at all intuitive, so I found a free webforwarding service called http://shorturl.com and I was able to get the following link from them:

http://aurorascooterist.funurl.com

This URL points to the difficult-to-remember groupomatic link above.
The URL should be up tomorrow or Monday (/17/07). Groupomatic lets you organize a group. With the help of my local Honda Scooter dealer, I hope to post at the dealership a flyer with vertical tear-off tags that have my phone and the aurorascooterist URL printed on them. What the groupomatic site does is allow people to register a name with an email. This allows the organizer to send out a broadcast email about an upcoming event. Members can also look over announced events. I'll let you know how it's going.
